Cars & Driving
I've been driving since May 1987. I bought my first car, a 1978 Ford Escort
in September 1989 and have had a number of cars ever since.
My Dad
taught me the basics of driving even before I had passed my
driving test and also how to do simple maintenance jobs. This early
experience proved worthwhile with me becoming a
relatively 'natural' driver and able to keep my cars
going, whatever their age.
Whilst owning my fourth car, a 1995 Peugeot 306 XTdt, I started documenting on this website any problems I had with it and how I resolved them, for the benefit of all. I continue to do this to this day with my current car, a 2005 Volkswagen Golf Mk 5.
I enjoy driving. It's a good job because I do a
lot of it! I find it relaxing whilst at the same
time I realise that a car can be a lethal weapon.
I passed the Institute of Advanced Motoring (IAM)
Advanced Driving Test in 1999 and helped other
people to pass their advanced driving test for 3
years afterwards. I have a few personal theories
about what is good driving.
