How stupid can a robber get? ---------------------------- James Newsome, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, was sent down in May for 10 years for robbing a convenience store. His mistake was to wear a hard hat emblazoned with "James Newsome" in big letters. Meanwhile, in Linz in Austria, a 19-year-old youth held up a shop with an air gun and took £150. In February this year, he saw a photofit picture in the local press and complained to his mother that it was a terrible likeness. She handed him over to the police. Over in Camarillo, California, a 28-year-old mean went into a department store and took several suits into a dressing room. He carefully snipped off the security tag from one suit and then put it on under his clothes. Rather than leave the security tag behind, he put it in his pocket, and this set off the alarm as he left the store. He was grabbed by a store employee. After robbing bus passengers in Rio de Janeiro of more than £530 last July, Jose Roberto Rocha jumped off the bus - right in front of 410 policemen gathered for an official ceremony with Rio's governor. Two men entered a sandwich bar in Edmonton, Canada, on New Year's Eve and order sandwiches. One pulled a knife and demanded cash. The clerk locked the till and set off an alarm and the men ran from the store, but returned when the clerk shouted that they had forgotten their order. They were still waiting when the police arrived.
