Hello Hazrul,
1. All the tips and tricks I know regarding the Mk 5 Golf are listed on
http://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/vwgolfmk5/vwgolfmk5_secrets.php.
2. I believe this can switched on or off either by a VW dealer or someone
with a tool such as VCDS (http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/index.html).
3. In the UK, headlight washers have never been standard. They have always
been an optional extra. I am not sure about in Malaysia.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions,
Stuart

Hello Stuart.
Thanks so much..Still cant try this at my car. i'm now at offshore with oil & gas company. Another thing is;
1. Side mirror for mk 5 can folding automatic or just pushing with hand? because previously if I parked at small road, i just push side mirror with hand to fold it. Found this because mk6 of my friends can fold automatically.
2. My headlight when I turn on ignition the lamp will have like a flip-flap,which is good for me..but mostly don't. so what should I do. Is it normal to NOT flip up and down?
Thanks again.

Hello Hazrul,
1. The side mirrors on the Mk 5 can be either manual or electric. If manual, you can push them in with your hand. If electric, I don’t think you can (or should) use your hand but instead should use the door mirror switch inside. There will be an extra position for “fold in mirrors” if your car has electric foldable mirrors. I don’t believe Mk 5’s electric foldable mirror have ever folded automatically. You always have to use the switch manually.
My Mk 5 has electric folding mirrors but I requested this specially. Mk 5s in the UK do not have this as standard.
2. It sounds like your car might have Gas Discharge (Bi-Xenon) headlights. I believe these do a little “dance” when you first switch them on and this is normal. I’m not sure because my car just has standard halogen headlights.
