Faith in humanity

I'm in a good mood today. I shouldn't be. My 83 year father's car was hit by a car emerging from a T-junction last night. The other car didn't stop. Amazingly, dad is absolutely fine. Not even a stiff neck today. His car though is expected to be written-off.

So why am I in a good mood? Because my faith in humanity has been boosted by the actions of others last night. Not just the paramedics who gave my dad a check-up or the policeman who attended, helped me arrange the car's recovery and ran my dad home. They were just doing their jobs you could say. But the van driver who happened to see the accident and followed the other car until he could get its registration number and then return to comfort dad until the police arrived. And the homeowner who came out with a cup of tea to steady my dad's nerves. These people didn't have to do anything last night but they did and to them I am truly grateful.
