My Mk8 Golf GTE charging point cover has snapped off, I need a new moulding which I have been quoted £63 for by VW is this easy to fit myself or does this require a vw mechanic.

Hi Jared,

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, I've not heard of anyone having to have this cover replaced before and can't find any information online. I do know that on my Mk7 GTE the slatted grill which surrounds the VW badge/charge port is only held on by a few torx screws and so it is easy to gain access behind. You might like to try doing this to investigate how the cover is secured.

The original poster said a new moulding could be supplied by a Volkswagen dealership.

I don’t have any more information on this.
