Hi Stuart, enjoying reading your diary of ownership and running your Golf Gt Tdi.I have been looking at buying one which has 80K miles (Dec. 2004) on the clock.any comments to look for? Cheers.

Thanks for the email. Glad you found my website useful.

I have the SE model with a 1.9 TDI engine. The GT has a 2.0 engine. I have
to admit to never actually driving a 2.0 TDI. I'd like to do so one day
because I've heard a lot of good things about it. But I'm a big fan of the
1.9. It's certainly got enough power and to me seems refined enough. Also
the lower insurance rating means it's a cheaper car to run.

But to answer your question, I can't really think of anything in particular
to watch out for when buying used. 80k miles on a Dec 2004 TDI model sounds
like a true mileage. Basically just make sure that everything works before
you buy. If it's been looked after everything should be like new.

Maybe take a look at http://www.uk-mkivs.net/forums/20/ShowForum.aspx. There
are lots of Mk V owners on there and there's usually someone asking the same
question as you have.
