Questions about Mk 5 GT TDI

Hi there,
Just got a Golf Mk 5 GT TDI there are a couple of things I am wondering about.
On the drivers door there is a button which shown a picture of the car with the passenger side door open. I assume its to unlock the passenger door without you having to reach over? However when I press it nothing happens?
There does no seem to be a release for the boot which seems odd? Was this an optional extra? seems hard to beleve
There is no light in the boot which is also odd? Can you confirm that this should be the case.

Hi Hugh,
I don't recognise a button like you mention showing a picture of the car with the passenger side door open. Can you give me more details, i.e. where exactly is this button - is it just beside the interior door release handle? How old is the car? How many doors? I'm pretty sure there is not a button which just unlocks the passenger door.
As far as I know, no Mk V golf has ever had a release for the boot either as standard or as an option.
There should be a light in the boot. It should be on the underside of the right/driver's side rear parcel shelf support.
Let me know how you get on,
Stuart

Hi there,
I have an 06 mark 5 GT TDI.
The switch is for locking and unlocking all the doors of the car (finally worked it out).
Its the rocker switch high up on the drivers door (the highest switch there is).
Apparently there are boot releases on the US versions of the golf V, down beside where the fuel release button is, but it's not on mine (sadly).
Yip found the boot light (thanks to you) seems I must have a blown bulb, will get it looked at first chance I get.
Thanks for replying.
Kind Regards
Hugh

Hi Hugh,
They must have changed the symbols on the lock/unlock door switch. My 2005 model has symbols of a open and closed padlock.
There are a few subtle differences between the US and UK Mk Vs.
