Hi Stuart,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for going to the effort to publish various golf mk5 updates. I was stunned to see that you've just gone through an identical issue as myself regarding the rear wiper arm. Only today I've ordered a genuine replacement from VW which i'm tolder are now strong than the originals. A lot of the other items you talk about echo familiarities to me so i thank you for that. Next on my list is to find out why my faithful 2.0tdi is getting a bit more smokey and noisy on start up as winter sets in.
Thanks again,
Rob

Hi Rob,
Thanks for your email. I am glad that you found my web site useful, and thanks for letting me know. I think no matter what car you own and what problem you have with it, someone will always have had the same problem before.
Sorry to hear about your latest problem. It is not one that I've come across personally. First thing I would check would be the glow plugs to make sure they are all working ok. I guess one of them failing might cause the problems you describe.
Hope you get it sorted. Please let me know how you get on, Stuart
