Braun Tassimo machine failure

Sorry to trouble you, we have had a machine at work for years. We don't know what model it is, (lost instruction book!) says Kenco +Braun on the outside +"type 3107 serial no 9005BR10142569" on the bottom. After a long time of non usage I thought it best to do a descale programme, but the machine started getting hot, steaming & then just blew the electrics! I brought it home, changed the fuse in the plug and tried again but nothing happened. Is there somewhere I can take it to get fixed or is it not worth the bother?
Have seen the topic of breaking into the casing but not sure what I'd find inside or how to fix it anyway.
Hope you can help.

It could be that your machine has experienced the "Problematic Cap" problem described on http://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/miscellaneous/tassimo_repair/. It would explain the symptoms you describe.
In my experience, these machines are not designed to be repaired when they go wrong but rather replaced. With that in mind, I'd have a go taking a look inside. What's to loose? If you see dampness inside this indicates a water/steam leak which may have shorted out the electrics. Fix the leak and dry it out and you might be able to get it working again.
Hope that helps,
Stuart
