Hi Shelina,
I do not believe the standard radios in Mk V Golf's are prone to just stopping working. I suspect it is a problem with either the fuse or maybe a previous owner has messed around with the wiring - perhaps to fit a different radio?
The fuse should be easy to check from the fuse panel accessible when the driver's door is open on the end of the dash. Should you want to check the wiring behind the radio, it too is relatively easy to do. There are many guides/videos on the internet, e.g. http://www.jonathansblog.net/volkswagen_vw_xcarlink_ipod_adaptor_rcd_300_radio_remove
Hope that helps,
Stuart

Thank you, I have another problem the car keeps jerking when I drive it. Its a semi auto ive never driven a semi auto so I thought it was normal as the dealer who sold it to me told me it was. Yesterday I went to the garage and the mechanic said it was something to do with the gear box. I will be changing the gearbox, I wanted to know if this problem will come up again after I changed the gearbox in a few years? I really regret buying this vehicle.
Kind Regards,
Shelina

Hi Shelina,
Sorry to hear you are having a few problems with your car.
So the car has the standard VW DSG gearbox? My car has manual transmission and so I am not an expert on this but I have driven VW's with the automatic gearbox and they have always been very smooth. You might be able to feel a slight jerk when it changes gear but that should be it. If there is a problem with the gearbox, once fixed, I wouldn't expect it to fail again if the car is maintained properly.
Why not post your problem to my VW forum to see if anyone else can help? http://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/forums/forum.php?forumId=2
Hope that helps,

Hi,
It's an IGS, I think that's what he said I'm sure. Thank you for your quick replies, I feel more at ease knowing it won't break down again. I really hope it doesn't.
Kind regards
Shelina
