Cruise Control fixed

Hi Stuart,
Thank you for an excellent webpage, I have a 2005 Golf FSI 1,6, and have had an intermittent problem with the cruise control for almost a year, cutting out for no reason, sometimes after a short time, sometimes longer!
Having recently read your article, I took out the switch and cleaned it, maybe 10 minutes easy work, after which it has worked faultlessly, no expensive garage job!
As I live in Finland, the roads are quite straight, with not so much traffic, so I use the cruise control a lot, even on short journeys. Since cleaning, I am always expecting it to revert back to the old way, but not at all, so if it happens again and cleaning does not work, I will simply replace the switch.
