Hi Guys,
Bought a MK5
Googled water problem with sun roof......fixed it myself......nipples were clogged.
NOW my cluster is DEAD......Lights come on car turns but not starting.
Car is at a Mechanic at Moment.....done the following..
1. Checked the Neg on Battery ....made sure the Earth contact is clean and connected propely to car....all fuses checked....all ok
2. Checked the ignition gets power....
3. Checked the B1 relay Terminal 15 voltage supply .....getting power all good
4. Found a tracking device connected on drivers footwell....soaking wet....i think from the previous water leak from sunroof....taken out and disconnected.....
NO LUCK.....CLUSTER STILL DEAD....
Mechanic connected the laptop to VAG the car....no response....not reading the car AT ALL....
HELP HELP....PLEASE SOMEONE....TIA
Trevor

Hi Trevor,
Sorry to hear about your car's problems. The Mk5 is full of electronic control modules which talk between themselves. It could be any one or more of these components which is at fault and if you get no response from the diagnostic port then you are working blind.
I'm assuming this car has never run whilst you've had it?
Hopefully someone else will be able to help but I have to admit to being out of my depth with this one,
Stuart
