Amber power steering warning light
Hi Stuart, hope you're well. I've recently purchased a 2006 Golf and there is an issue with it I can't seem to resolve. The amber power steering warning light comes on and flashes faintly when the right indicator is activated. The same light comes on occasionally when the car is stationary at idle. So far I've not noticed any change in the steering of the vehicle indicating power steering faults. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Dean,
The fact that the power steering warning light is coming on faintly and flashing with the indicator suggests to me this is more a problem with the dash/instrument binnacle rather than with the power steering system.
If possible I would try to get the car's fault codes checked just to see if anything is highlighted which might help you find out what the exact problem is and consequently how you may be able to fix it.
I've not heard of this problem before so I don't think it is common. Maybe you could live with it. Maybe if you get the dash out it could be a loose connection or something which might be fiddly but cheap to fix.
Hope that helps,
Stuart
