Interesting reading your guides and stories, I own a 1.9tdi 2006 Mk5.

I am replacing the rear door lock mechanism and noted your commentary. Replacing the lock seems impossible unless I remove the window strut? Is that really necessary?

Hi Jacob,

I'm 99% sure I didn't have to remove the window strut.

Thanks for your prompt response, I took the bolts off the strut and it provided more leeway somehow.
