Hi Stuart,I followed your site many times with interest when you had a mk5. I have also changed to a mk7, the 1.6 tdi blue motion, on a 65 plate. The regeneration process did worry me at first when the fan refused to go off when I turned the engine off, but you have calmed my fears. I have only had the car a few days and I have noticed a humming background noise nearly all the time.The car has only done 14,000 miles in 2yr 9 mths so I think it needs a good blast.Regarding the humming, have you experienced it or perhaps know what it is?Maybe a trip to the dealers is in order, but I would like some ammunition/knowledge to go with. Has always your site is a great read/reference and I tune in often. best wishes Brian.

I have never heard of a Mk 7 humming. Is this when the car is parked
(ignition off and doors locked)? How long does it hum for or is it
continuous?

Hi, Stuart, the humming occurs when you are driving, and in any gear, its a mystery. Also I need to see the dealer about a vibration from what seems to be the front wheels, maybe just a balance, and the a/c seems not very cold. Not a disaster, but only had the car less than a week so should be ok. Will keep you informed, regards Brian.
