Bonnet Lever Snapped
Posted by private, Wed 6 Nov 2013 1:08 pm
Hi there.
The bonnet lever mechanism has snapped on my mk 5 (after it became stiff/rusted etc!) I have since got in to the bonnet (using pliers) and re oiled the lock.
I now need to replace the small plastic pulley that works the cable when the lever is pulled out. My lever is fine but i'm struggling to even find a name for the small plastic pulley. Would you happen to know this or should i just go to a dealership?
Cheers
Richard

Hi Richard,
I'm not exactly sure which plastic pulley you mean. Is this near the latch under the bonnet, the lever inside the car or somewhere in-between?
Alternatively, if you visited a VW dealer I'm sure they'd be able to look up the part but I wonder if you'd be able to buy just that individual part. You might have to buy a whole new cable.
Let me know and I'll try to find out for you, Stuart
