Hi Stuart,
Just read your piece on replacing the Mk5 bonnet catch, very informative as mine has just gone the same way, i have to slam the bonnet from about two feet up, to get it to stay shut (not doing it any good i bet...), so i've been looking on the web to get a new one. I then saw your line about 10% discount from VW because of membership of a club. My Mk5 is a 2006 and so would qualify under the "3 years old" rule but i wondered if you could tell me what the club is and how can i join it.

Also I am glad to hear that you are planning on replacing your car's bonnet latch. From the sound of it, it doesn't sound like it will be too long before you either cannot get in or cannot get it closed properly. It will be a lot harder to fix then.

I think the drivers' club I'm a member of is something my local dealer's group offers rather than a national VW thing. However, I wouldn't be surprised in other dealer groups run similar clubs. Best bet is to contact a few different local VW dealers and see what they offer. Even if they don't run such a club they may still be prepared to offer you a discount.
