I read your experience with wiring on your Golf MK 5 on the forum,am afraid to say i have the same problem.My reverse,rear fog right respectively and tailgate plus rear wipers are not working.My car is a 2004 Golf MK 5.
I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks for your email. Sorry to hear you are another with the snapped tailgate wiring problem. I know of many people who have had the same problem, and yet Volkswagen will not admit this is a design fault. Consequently owners have to fight hard to get a VW dealer to contribute to the cost of the repair, let alone get them to repair it free of charge.

If you have recent and long service history with a VW dealer you stand a better chance of getting them to contribute. Contacting VW HQ may also help but don't hold your breath.

Fortunately, the fault is relatively easy to fix yourself or to get a friendly mechanic to do it for you. You just need to slightly lengthen the snapped wires and reconnect. It's a little fiddly but not too difficult if you take your time.

Thanks Stuart for the info.I did already try to find the fault myself but was going no where.Will try both ways and see what works out fast.
