Hi, I've just bought a golf tdi 58 and am clueless about the radio?! The brightness is very low but when I go to change it it goes very dull again as soon as I switch ignition off??? Also is there some port or something to plug my iPhone in to listen to music? Just I can't find one?!
Thanks!

Hi Vicki,

How are you changing the radio display's brightness?

Your car may not be new enough to have a genuine VW Aux-in or Media-in connection for your iPhone. If it has there will be a socket either in the glove box or in or on the front of the centre armrest.

If you don't have a connection you can buy accessories to add one. Aux-in kits are relatively cheap (£30ish) and allow you to listen to music through your radio but you cannot control the music using the radio or charge your device.

iPhone connection kits are more expensive (£100ish) but provide limited ability to control the music via the radio and your iPhone will also be charged whilst connected.

Hope this helps,

Stuart

Ah. Your radio must be different from mine. I cannot change the brightness on the radio itself. I can only adjust it by changing the interior dash lighting level using the little thumbwheel to the left of the exterior light switch.

I've had a quick Google and it sounds like your car's radio might have a sensor which automatically adjusts the screen brightness. Apart from making sure you have nothing covering the front of the radio (where the sensor probably is) it might be that sensor which is faulty.

Sorry, I can't help more. Like I said, my radio is different. If you discover anything, please let me know.
