Thanks very much for taking the time to put this post together Stuart. This along with the forum post you linked to helped me replace the driver door actuator on my Mark 5 Golf. I also went for the el cheapo ebay option which looks very similar to the one I pulled out and seems to work fine. Let's hope it has some longevity to it!

Thanks for taking the time to let me know that my website helped you replace your Mk 5's faulty door lock actuator. I guess these actuators, particularly the one in the driver's door, do get a lot of use. Fingers' crossed for the el cheapo eBay replacement!
